Orthopaedic recovery and wound care at home

Home orthopaedic care

Our orthopaedic home-care programme supports patients recovering from fractures, joint procedures, spine conditions, or chronic bone and joint problems. Care is planned with your discharge summary or orthopaedic advice so you recover safely at home.

Post-fracture & post-surgery support

  • Cast / splint care: Keep dressings dry and clean; watch for swelling, numbness, or colour changes in the limb as advised by your doctor.
  • Elevation & positioning: Help with safe positioning to reduce swelling where prescribed.
  • Follow-up reminders: Support with clinic visits and investigations scheduled by your orthopaedic team.

Pain & medication

  • Scheduled analgesia: Medicines given strictly as per prescription and doctor instructions.
  • Pain diary: Simple tracking so your doctor can adjust treatment at follow-up.
  • Ice / heat: Only when approved for your condition — our staff follow your care plan.

Mobility & physiotherapy

Early mobility

  • Safe transfers bed–chair
  • Walking aids as advised
  • Fall prevention at home

Exercise support

  • Home physiotherapy coordination
  • Range-of-motion within limits
  • Gradual strengthening as cleared

Wound & device care (when applicable)

  • Surgical wounds: Dressing changes only as per hospital protocol and under supervision.
  • External fixators / pins: Site care as taught by your surgical team — we reinforce hygiene and monitoring.

When to seek urgent medical help

Call emergency services or your hospital if you notice any of the following:

  • Severe or worsening pain not relieved by prescribed medication
  • New numbness, weakness, or blue/pale toes or fingers
  • Fever, spreading redness, or pus near a wound or pin site
  • Chest pain or breathlessness after immobility (possible clot — seek urgent care)

Joint & spine support at home

For arthritis, back pain flare-ups, or post–joint replacement recovery, we combine nursing visits with activity pacing, ergonomic tips at home, and liaison with your orthopaedic or physiotherapy team.
